Description
Terry Katalan was born in Istanbul in 1965 to a Sephardic family and now lives in London after spending many years in Barcelona. She has had a great admiration and devotion for painting since her childhood, and she tries to convey this feeling through her artwork. She has been devoted to a range of stylistic varieties after freely studying and experimenting with various painting techniques, eventually developing her own artistic language and style. Katalan is a member of the Fédération Internationale Culturelle Féminine (FICF) and has curated many exhibitions over the years. She is also the founder of the Earth Carpet Project, a mural collage (9×1.5m) inspired by the beauty, shapes, energy, colours and heritage of Anatolian carpets and kilims, as well as nature itself. The materials used in the artwork integrate various types of waste, such as organic, excess textiles and more. After exhibiting her paintings in Istanbul, Barcelona, Madrid, Gerona, Frankfurt, London, and Paris, she currently continues to create and produce her paintings and curates art projects in London.
