Description
Melissa Vipritskaya is a London-based abstract artist. She began her career with painting and illustration, depicting people’s emotions and investigating the phenomenon of the crowd. Her experimentation with material, colour, and form during her studies at Central Saint Martins shifted her focus to sculpture, and she now investigates how single-surface works such as paintings and drawings can become three-dimensional pieces. Her favourite medium is the environmentally friendly MDF. Using her current work, Vipritskaya seeks to express the dynamism, noise, speed, and chaos inherent in large cities. The Tower Bridge Engine Rooms and mechanical tools inspired her to incorporate these elements into her work. In her recent works, she seeks to raise awareness of environmental elements and urban imagery, and invites the viewer to witness the intricacies as well as the beauty of the world. Her artworks have been exhibited across the UK and she is currently organising group exhibitions in collaboration with other artists and curators.
