TERMS & CONDITIONS – BUYERS 

INTRODUCTION  

This document should be read carefully by all prospective buyers. It provides important information and contains additional terms applicable to you as a potential buyer at our auctions. 

  • Your bidding on items indicates your acceptance of the following Terms and Conditions of sale by Art4Lives. These terms are subject to amendment before or during the sale. Art4Lives operates as an agent of the seller only and is not responsible in any way in the event the seller or buyer fails to fulfil their respective agreements. In all instances, the auctioneer’s interpretation of these conditions is final and binding on all bidders.  
  • Art4lives reserves the right to reject any bid that, in his opinion, is not commensurate with the value of the lot.  
  • Art4lives has the sole right to re-offer a lot and/or settle disputed bids. The record of sale kept by the auction house will be taken as final in the event of a dispute. Additionally, items may be withdrawn at any time prior to the offering of each lot. 
  • Any particular auction and/or any particular artwork on our website may be subject to different or additional terms which will be published in our auction listing or separately announced prior to the auction. By bidding at the auction, you agree to be bound by these terms. 
  • We reserve the right to use our discretion to refuse any Lot for sale. 

Proceeds: 

  • All proceeds will be donated to the Turkish Ministry of Interior’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), which works to prevent disasters and minimise disaster-related damages, as well as plan and coordinate post-disaster responses.  
  • Yunus Emre Institute London will donate the proceeds from the auctions directly to AFAD.  

Condition Reports: 

  • Please note that we are not able to provide detailed condition reports on artwork, you should obtain an opinion from such a professional before bidding. 
  • Dimensions are given in height before width and do not include the frame (unless stated). 
  • Pictures, unless stated, are not framed. Pictures will not have been removed from their frames unless specifically mentioned in the listings.   

Artwork Images: 

  • Please note the colours portrayed in the listings and in the additional images, are the best attempt at a likeness but cannot be confirmed as identical to the actual colours. 

Return and Refund Policy: 

  • Please note that, unlike online shopping, when you bid in an auction, there is no right of return unless an item is materially different to its description.  
  • Much like attending a live auction in person, bidding at an online auction is a contractual commitment to buy. 

Payments & Methods of Payment: 

  • The purchaser will have to pay directly to Art4Lives
  • Successful bidders are to pay for their purchases immediately after the sale or upon receipt of an invoice unless other arrangements have been authorized in writing by Art4Lives.  
  • The payments can be made online on the website https://art4lives.uk/ or via bank transfer. 
  • Art4lives reserves the right to hold property until the payment is received.

  • Payments from online banking transfers must be cleared within 24 hours into our account before items may be collected. 

 
Shipping: 

  • The buyer is responsible for paying for packaging and the shipping costs and any extra export charges for the delivery of the purchased item. 
  • The delivery time and cost may vary depending on where you live.  

 
Bidding: 

  • Pre-registration is required for all biddings. 
  • All bids are per lot as numbered in the listings unless otherwise announced by Art4lives. The sales price shall consist of the final bid price plus the packaging and shipping costs. 
  • Bidding will be done directly through the thehttps://art4lives.uk/ website where you will have to create an account.  
  • If an item is unsold, it may, at our discretion, be offered to the highest bidder or re-offered at a future sale. 
  • The owner of the highest bid at the end of the online auction will be the winner of the lot. The winning bid will form the contract for sale set out by the terms and conditions.  
  • We take no responsibility for the bids made on behalf of another person.  
  • Bidders shall be deemed to act as principals (i.e., not on behalf of or as the agent of any other person). 
     

Import of Goods: 

  • It is the Buyer’s responsibility to obtain the correct import/export licenses. We take no responsibility for the export of goods which have been bought.  

Descriptions and Condition of the Artworks: 

  • Reasonable endeavours are made to ensure the accuracy of any statement as to authorship, attribution origin, date, age, provenance and condition of any artwork whether or not such statement forms part of the description of any such artwork. 
     
  • Prospective buyers bid on the understanding that descriptions involve matters of opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. We do not accept liability for the correctness of conditions and warranties whether relating to description, condition or quality of artworks, express, implied or statutory are hereby excluded. The absence of a report does not imply that an artwork is without imperfections. We are not liable for damage to gilded picture frames, plaster picture frames or picture frame glass. All of the artworks are sold as stated. We recommend that you read the artwork descriptions carefully before you bid.
