Description
Peter Sanders is a pre-eminent photographer of the Muslim world. Over the course of more than 55 years, he has captured over half a million images that reflect a rich traditional civilization filled with warmth, humanity, and compassion. He began his career as one of London’s leading rock and roll photographers in the mid-1960s. This led to his first trips to India and then to Morocco. In 1971, he photographed the Hajj after obtaining unique permission as a westerner. Sanders’ physical journey paralleled his spiritual exploration. These journeys led him to meticulously document the Islamic world’s peoples, architecture, and culture. Currently, he continues travelling the world, holds photographic exhibitions, gives presentations, and conducts international photographic workshops titled “The Art of Seeing” with young people in exotic and traditional locations. As a result of his work, Sanders has been named one of the world’s 500 most influential Muslims. He is a permanent Ambassador for the HH King Charles-founded charity MOSAIC.
