Description
Hanifi Dursun was born in Erzurum’s Oltu district in 1975. His interest in art started from his early ages and first learned about Oltu stone processing, studied for a year at the Stone and Metalworking department of Atatürk University. In 1997, he enrolled in the Turkish Handicrafts Illumination Department at Atatürk University’s Fine Arts Faculty. The artist, who graduated in 2001, relocated to Istanbul that same year to pursue artistic endeavours. Dursun took part in a number of group exhibitions both at home and abroad. Many of his works are in private collections and he also won a prize in the State of Qatar’s Qatar Mushaf-i decoration competition, and his work was deemed worthy of printing. The artist, who learned Diwani and Jeli Diwani calligraphy forms from master calligrapher Hasan Çelebi, worked also as an art instructor in İsmek. He is a traditional arts tutor at Ataturk University in Erzurum now and working on his upcoming solo exhibition.
